I also got round to reading, and greatly enjoying, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin.

Anne McCaffrey has, sadly, passed between forever.

I mentioned briefly on twitter that it has been a while, a long while, since I looked forward to a new Anne McCaffrey novel.

But I did once.

Apparently David Weber has nearly finished writing War Maid's Choice and it "should be in stores in about a year".

With A Rising Thunder coming out in March, all I can say at this point is: YES!!!

Now up to date on Dr Who. As I feared, and as mondyboy put much more eloquently, not being up to date wouldn't have been a great loss.

It occurred to me today that:
a) New Dr Who exists in a world where some people are weeks ahead of other viewers
b) Moffatt knows this

So, is River Song warning the Doctor or us about spoilers?

I find it appropriate that, in quality and entertainment terms, The Big Bang and The End of Time are also at opposite ends of the scale.

As found by angriest the forthcoming Green Lantern has an exceedingly cool logo.

This was a good episode, especially as it is continuing Amy's development as an intelligent companion who will make her own mind up, thank you very much. Rory also impressed, and to a surprising extent. Finally, dodging the easy answer at the end also scored points.

I would rate this as a solid but not brilliant episode. I do appreciate the efforts being made to develop Amy as a character and pushing her to grow.
